Spiced Granola

Spiced Granola here shown with raisins and chopped green apples.

Easy granola recipe handed down from my great grandmother who made this all the time during the start of the fall season. The smells of cinnamon and nutmeg automatically take me back to my time on the east coast when the leaves changed color, that’s probably the biggest part that I miss from living in Connecticut.

DSC_0001Ingredients

  • 1 full container rolled oats
  • 1 cup almonds and/or cashews
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tbs cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl, place on a sheet pan and bake at 375 degrees stirring every 5 minutes or so until golden brown.

Remember that life is good! The bad times will always pass and everything happens for a reason. I am almost done with the first quarter of high school and feeling the pressure to get good grades. It’s the finish line though! Already too excited to move on to college but sad at the same time about leaving the wonderful people I have grown up with and formed deep connections.

Love,
